Biomedical Instrumentation - II
Time : 180 minutes Marks : 100
Instructions for the students :
1. All questions are compulsory.
2. “Long Answer type Question (LAQ)” is a supply type question of 20 marks, which
require typical answer of about 60-80 lines in about 32-40 minutes.
3. “Short Answer type Question (SAQ)” is a supply type question of 5 marks, which
require typical answer of about 15-20 lines in about 08-10 minutes.
4. Use of non-programmable type of scientific calculator is allowed.
5. Draw neat diagrams wherever necessary.
6. Assume suitable data if necessary.

Long Answer type Questions (LAQ’s)

1. (a) List and explain the factors to be considered in selecting a
transducer for echocardiography investigation.
(b) Explain the following in detail
i) A-scan display
ii) B-scan display

2. (a) Draw a block diagram of biotelemetry receiver and explain
the working.
(b) Explain the EEG measurement with 10-20 electrode
configuration.

3. (a) With a neat diagram, explain continuous flow analyser.
(b) Explain the working of spectro photometer.
(c) What are the different methods of accident prevention ? List
and explain any one.

4. (a) Explain in detail, Computerised Axial Tomography Scanners.
(b) Compare computerised central monitoring and bedside
monitoring system.

Short Answer type Questions (SAQ’s)

5. What are the factors to be considered for thermistor probe for
biomedical application ?

6. Explain the application of telemetry in patient care. 5
7. With a neat diagram explain the working of flame-photometer. 5
8. Explain the use of computer for the analysis of ECG.
