Total Quality Management

Instructions for the students :
1. All questions are compulsory.
2. “Long Answer type Question (LAQ)” is a supply type question of 20 marks,
which require typical answer of about 60-80 lines in about 32-40 minutes.
3. “Short Answer type Question (SAQ)” is a supply type question of 5 marks,
which require typical answer of about 15-20 lines in about 08-10 minutes.
4. Use of non-programmable type of scientific calculator is allowed.
5. Draw neat diagrams wherever necessary.
6. Assume suitable data if necessary.
Long Answer type Questions (LAQ’s)
1. (a) Elaborate any five key differences between TQ and
traditional management practices.
(b) According to Deming, how does higher quality lead to higher
productivity and in turn long-term competitive strength ?
(c) Describe the major aspects of Quality as prescribed by
Juran.
2. (a) List the tools for quality planning. Explain the Customer
Requirement Planning Matrix.
(b) Discuss the practices for dealing with customers.
3. (a) Explain in brief the various effective ways to breakdown
barriers between departments.
(b) What do you mean by Process Redesign ? Explain the
Principles of Process Redesign.
4 (a) Discuss some of the common types of teams used in TQ.
(b) What is Empowerment ? List and explain any four principles
of Empowerment.
Short Answer type Questions (SAQ’s)
5. Discuss the characteristics of Mechanistic model of Organisation. 5
6. Write a short note on Deming Cycle. 5
7. What are the disadvantages of the Functional Structure ? 5
8. Write a short note on Roles of a Quality Leader.
