Instructions for the students :
1. All questions are compulsory.
2. “Long Answer type Question (LAQ)” is a supply type question of 20 marks,
which require typical answer of about 60-80 lines in about 32-40 minutes.
3. “Short Answer type Question (SAQ)” is a supply type question of 5 marks,
which require typical answer of about 15-20 lines in about 08-10 minutes.
4. Use of non-programmable type of scientific calculator is allowed.
5. Draw neat diagrams wherever necessary.
6. Assume suitable data if necessary.
Long Answer type Questions (LAQ’s)
1. (a) What is the primary piece of safety equipment in the machine
shop ?
(b) Classify fasteners as per their application.
2. (a) What are the types of micrometer instruments ? State
application of each.
(b) Explain thread plug gauge and air gauge.

(b) What are the different types of fits ?

5. List the steps in threading procedure using threading dies. 5
6. Explain the terms accuracy and precision. 5
7. Enlist the shop testing that can be used while identifying steels. 5
8. Classify steels.
