PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT
Time : Three hours Maximum : 100 marks

SECTION A — (5 x 8 = 40 marks)

Answer any FIVE questions.
All questions carry equal marks.
1. “Time horizon is an important factor influencing investment decisions”–Discuss.
2. Write a note on types of portfolio.
3. Explain different types of risks associated with investments.
4. Distinguish between systematic and non-systematic risk.
5. Explain the risk and return indifference curves of different categories of investors.
6. Discuss random walk theory.
7. State the assumptions of CAPM.
8. How do you evaluate the performance of portfolio using Treynor's model?

SECTION B — (4 x 15 = 60 marks)

Answer any FOUR questions.
All questions carry equal marks.
9. Define optimal portfolio. Describe the inputs required for portfolio construction.
10. Explain traditional and modern methods of measurement of return on portfolio.
11. Explain Markowitz theory on diversification of portfolio.
12. Explain the concepts of capital market line and security market line.
13. What are Arbitage portfolios? Discuss investors position in this regard.
14. How do formula plans help in portfolio revision?
15. An investor buys a bond in 1978, maturity in 1980 at
Rs. 900. It has a maturity period of 10 years and par value of Rs. 1,000. It fetches Rs. 90 every year. Calculate (a) Current yield and (b) Yield to maturity.
