(a) What are the merits and demerits of raster-scan CRT. (b) Consider a raster system with resolution of 640×480. How many pixels could be accessed per second by a display controller that refreshes the screen at a rate of 60 frames per second. What is the access time per pixel? [8+8] 2. (a) Distinguish the merits and demerits of scan line algorithm and flood fill algo- rithm. (b) Discuss about the super sampling approach followed for antialiasing. [10+6] 3. (a) Show that the shearing factors applied in x and y directions are independent. That is Sha,1 Sh1,b = Sha.b. (b) Briefly discuss about co-ordinate transformations. [8+8] 4. (a) Find the general form of the transformation N which maps a rectangular window with x extent xwmin to xwmax in the x-direction and y extent ywmin to ymax in the y-direction on to a rectangular view port with x extent xvmax to xvmax and y extent yvmin to yvmax. (b) Distinguish between Cohen-Sutherland outcode and Sutherland-Hodgeman al- gorithm. [8+8] 5. Distinguish the transformations performed in 2-D graphics and 3-D graphics. Ex- plain how many matrices are needed to define each of the basic transformations. [8+8] 6. (a) Explain the steps involved in transformation from a world coordinate descrip- tion of a 3-D object to device coordinates. (b) Explain the procedure followed for back face detection. [8+8] 7.
