1. (a) Explain labeled break and continue statement with suitable examples. [5]
(b) What are the primitive data types available in Java? Explain. [6]
(c) What is the significance of Java Vertical Machine? Explain. [5]
2. (a) Why the synchronized methods within classes will not work in all cases? What
is the alternative? Write a program to discuss the same. [8]
(b) Write a program that creates two threads. First thread prints the numbers
from 1 to 100 and the other thread prints the numbers from 100 to 1. [8]
3. (a) Write a program to create your own exception and throw it. [8]
(b) What are checked and unchecked exceptions? Explain. [8]
4. Develop and applet that receive three numeric values as input from the user and
than display the largest of the three on the screen, write a HTML page and test
the applet. [16]
5. Explain the different types of Layout managers with suitable examples. [16]
6. (a) Write a Java program to create a Random access file with Employee Information
such as name, Designation and Department. The program should accept
designation from the user and read the file and display and details of the
employee whose name length is below 10. Use Random Access File Class. [8]
(b) Write a Java program to read two numbers, find the LCM and GCD of those
two numbers. Use Buffered Reader class. [8]
7. (a) Explain the different IP addressing schemes? [8]
(b) What are the advantages of java beans? [8]
8. Compare and contrast CORBA and RMI? [16]
