1. (a) Software is the differentiating characteristic in many computer based products and systems. Provide examples of two or three products and atleast one system in which software, not hardware, is the differentiating element. [15]
(b) You have been appointed as a project manager within an information system organization. Your job is to build an application that is quite similar to other that your team has built, although this one is large and more complex. Requirements have been thoroughly documented by the customer. What team structure would you choose and why?[ 15]
2. (a) “Unreasonable” deadlines are a fact of life in the software business. How should you proceed if you are faced with one? [8]
(b) Although adding people to a late software project can make it later, there are circumstances in which this is not true. Describe them. [7]
3. (a) Describe five software application areas in which software safety and hazard analysis would be a major concern. [8]
(b) Assume that you have been asked to develop a Library Information System. Make a list of risks that you would face as you begin this project. [7]
4. (a) Several Organization don’t have their own software development divisions and they outsource the work of Software Development to External Software Development organizations. Is it justified to outsource all types of software projects or should the outsourcing be limited to only some categories? Explain your answer. [10]
(b) How are MIS and DSS related? How do they differ from each other? [5]
5. (a) Discuss your perceptions of the ideal training and background for a System Analyst. [7]
(b) Is application of water Fall Modal will be effective for all types of projects? Justify your answer with example. [8]
