Distinguish between LDPE and HDPE in terms of their structure of the polymers. 2. What is meant by topological technique? Explain. 3. How will you measure the toughness of a polymer? Give details. 4. What kind of inference can be obtained from fatigue test? 5. Define the terms Tg and Tm. 6. Which type of polymers will give upper and lower glass transition temperatures? 7. How is the additives effect the electrical properties of polymers? 8. Explain the term ‘Gloss’ and ‘Haze’. 9. Which would be the better solvent for polystyrene : (a) n–pentene, (b) benzene (c) acetonitrile? Justify your answer. 10. What are the requirements to get water repellant polymers? Explain with one example. PART B — (5 ? 16 = 80 marks) 11. Discuss in detail the stress–strain properties of polymers.
