ORGANISATIONAL BEHAVIOUR

Time : Three hours Maximum : 100 marks
SECTION A — (5 x 8 = 40 marks)
Answer any FIVE of the following questions.

1.Define organisational behaviour, how it is related to other fields?
2.Explain globalisation with two examples.
3.How does a learning organisation differ from a traditional organisation?
4.Critically examine the Herzberg’s two factor theory.
5.How does the influence of membership in an informal group effect the attainment of organisational objectives?
6.What is meant by the term organisational cultural? Define it and give examples of its characteristics.
7.Give some examples of the external factors that affect perceptual selectivity.
8.‘A good leader is not necessarily a good manager’ — Discuss.

SECTION B — (4 x 15 = 60 marks)
Answer any FOUR of the following questions.

9.Define horizontal, network and virtual organisations designs. How do these differ from the classical design?
10.Discuss the methods through which you can measure the effectiveness of communication.
11.Analyse the pros and cons of alternative approaches to the management of conflict in an organisation.
12.Discuss the similarities and difference between autocratic, custodial and supportive models of organisational behaviour.
13.What is the concept of motivation? How does it affect behaviour? What does happen when a person is not able to satisfy his needs?
14.What are the various implications of perception for management? How does management affect perception of people in the organisation?
15.How can a competency and coaching approach develop leaders and make them more effective?
