PART - A
Answer all questions. Each question carries 4 marks
1.Explain the construction of a multilayer inductor.
2.Describe the effect of temperature on conductivity of an intrinsic semiconductor.
3.Explain the pinch-off condition in a JFET.
4.A centre tapped full wave rectifier has the following specifications:
Secondary voltage of transformer is 6-0-6V
Forward resistance of each diode =20ohm
Load resistance=1K ohm
Calculate RMS value of output voltage and current.
5.How will you fix the operating point on the output characteristics of a CE amplifier?
6.Draw the symbol of an Exclusive- OR gate. Explain its working with the help of truth table. How this can be used as an inverter.
7.Explain briefly 1)Virtual height
2)Critical frequency
8.Mention the applications of RADAR ?
9.What is freguency reuse in mobile communication? Explain.
10.What are the parts in an optical fibre? Draw the cross section of a fibre.
PART - B
Answer any two questions from each module.Each question carries 10 marks.

11.What are the types of carbon resistors? Explain the construction of thin film and thick film resistors.
12.With the help of VI characteristics, explain the working of a zener diode.
13.Compare CE, CB and CC - configurations of a transistor in terms of voltage gain, current gain, input and output resistance.
MODULE 2
14.How many amplifiers are classified with reference to load line? Explain the function of each component of an RC coupled amplifier.
15. a) Derive the voltage gain of a non-inverting amplifier using OP-AMP.
b) In an inverting amplifier using OPAMP, Rf = 500K ohm, R1 = 125 K ohm,Vi = 2V. Find the output voltage.
16.With the help of a neat sketch, explain the working of a moving coil loud speaker.
