1. (a) Derive the Radar range equation.
(b) With a block diagram explain the operation of pulse radar. [6+10]
2. (a) How is the effect due to cross-section fluctuations of targets minimized?
(b) Discuss about the probability of false alarm.

3. (a) What are the advantages and disadvantages of CW Doppler Radars
(b) What is the importance of providing isolation between transmitter and re-
ceiver? Explain clearly the different method of providing isolation in the case
of CW Radar. [8+8]
4. (a) Explain the operation of an MTI radar with 2 prfs.
(b) Draw the block diagram of Range-Rated Doppler Filters and explain. [8+8]
5. (a) Draw the block diagram of non-coherent MTI Radar and explain the function
of each block in detail.
(b) Give the advantages of non-coherent MTI Radar. [10+6]
6. (a) What are the various methods of acquisition before tracking a target with a
radar? Explain in detail.
(b) How many techniques are employed to track a radar target? Explain that
technique which employs one single pulse for extracting error information.

7. With reference to radar parabolic reflector antennas-explain the following:
(a) Types of feeds.
(b) Aperture blocking and offset feed.
(c) f/D ratio and front-to-back ratio.
(d) Reflector surfaces. [4×4]
8. (a) Describe and distinguish between the different types of ECM directed against
a radar.
(b) Discuss the relations between the matched filter characteristics and correlation
function. [8+8]
