b. What is a sector and track in hard disk? (4)

c. Briefly describe the function of serial access secondary storage device. (4)



Q.6 a. What are the different types of key switches used in keyboards? Explain their working with the help of neat diagram. (8)

b. Briefly explain the following with respect to monitors

(i) Resolution (ii) Refresh rate
(iii) Pixel (iv) Interlaced scan (8)

Q.7 a. Briefly explain the working of a laser printer. (8)

b. Differentiate between the following:

(i) Mechanical and optical mouse.
(ii) OCR and OMR. (8)

Q.8 a. Explain the term Hardware, Software and Firmware, specifying the relationship between them? Name atleast two items of all categories. (8)

b. What do you understand by memory management and the role of operating system in doing so? (8)
