1. (a) Distinguish inventory control and scheduling functions.
(b) Identify the location of PPC department in the organization chart of factory.

2. (a) Derive expression for smoothing constant.
(b) What are the effects of smoothing constant on the quality of forecast. [16]
3. (a) If a product is to be manufactured within the company, the details are as
follows:
Annual demand rate, r = 36000 units
Production rate, k = 72000 units
Setup cost, C0 = Rs. 250 per setup
Carrying cost, Cc = Rs.25/unit/year.
Find the:
i. EOQ and
ii. Cycle time.
(b) What are the basic assumptions in the above EOQ model. [16]
4. Explain the logic ofMaterial Requirement Planning System? Explain with example.

5. Describe the following with respect to routing:
(a) Job order
(b) Move order and
(c) Tool order. [16]
6. Write the guidelines, which assist the preparation of schedules. [16]
7. Discuss the use of Line of Balance (LOB) in Production control. Explain in detail
the steps involved in LOB. [16]
8. Discuss in detail the sequential steps involved in dispatching.
