First Year
PROGRAM IN ‘C’
Time: Three hours
Maximum: 100 marks
PART A – (6 x 5 = 30 marks)
Answer any SIX questions.
All questions carry equal marks.
1. How character constant is expressed in C? How does it differ from string constant?
2. How comma operators are useful in for statements
3. Write a note on Recursion.
4. What do you mean by Global Variables? How does it differ from static variables?
5. What values are automatically assigned to those array elements not explicitly initialized?
6. What is a pointer? How it is initialized?
7. What is meant by Nested Structure?
8. What is the use of indirection operator?
9. Explain the general format of fseek function.
10. What is the significance of EOF?
PART B – (4 x 10 = 40 marks)
Answer any FOUR questions.
* Explain the primary data types with example. * Explain the format of switch statement with example. * Write a C program to concatenate two strings using pointers. * Write a program in C to count number of odd numbers, even numbers and zeroes in an array. * Explain how pointers are passed to function with example. * Explain error handling during I/O operations on a file.
PART C – (2 x 15 = 30 marks)
Answer any TWO questions.
* Write a program to sort a set of numbers in an array by both ways using menu driven window. * Write a program to create a data file containing the list of customers and their telephone numbers. Use a structure variable to store the name and telephone of each customer. * Write a function using pointers to add two matrices and to return the resultant matrix to the calling function.
