Answer all questions.
1. What is a hypothesis? What are the characteristics it should possess in order to be a good research hypothesis?
2. Explain the various causes for instrumental erroes.
3. How would you systematically proceed to find out the point group of a molecule?
4. Name the detectors used in GLC and HPLC. Explain the function of any one detector used in GLC.
5. Discuss briefly the enhancement of spectra computer averaging.

8. (a) (i) what are irreducible representations? Explain sub groups with a suitable example.

(iii) Explain the terms resolution and efficiency of a chromatographic column. How will you improve these factors?

(iii) Discuss briefly the photometric precision.
