SOCIOLOGY (Paper-V)
Social Problems with Reerence to India

Time : 3 Hours Max. Marks: 90

Instructions: Answer all questions. Answer should be written completely either in English or in Kannada.

1. Answer any three of the following in 5 to 10 sentences each. (5x3=15)

a) What are social problems?
b) Wha are the reasons for the lower-birth-rate in urban area?
c) What are the main features of drug addiction?
d) Define urbanisation?
e) Point out the provisions of the Indian constitution that aim at protection of childred.

II. Answer any three of the following in 20 sentences each. (10 x 3 = 30)

i) Why are social problems regarded as the consequence of anti-social behaviour?
ii) Outline the recommendations of Swaminathan Committee.
iii)Drug abuse is perceived as both aberrant behaviour and as a social problem - Discuss.
iv) Bring out the importance of child welfare.
v) Write a note on problem of housing.


III. Answer any three of the following in not exceeding three pages each. (15 x 3 = 45)

1) Give a detailed account of the relativity of social problems.
2) Point out the rural-urban differences in fertility in India.
3) What are the measures suggested to control drug abuse?
4) Analyse the prime causes of child labour in India.
5) Examine the obstacles to speedy industrialisation in India.
