I. Answer any three of the following in 5-10 sentences each: (3x5=15)
a) Elucidate the meaning of anthropology.
b) What is diffusion of culture.
c) Elucidate the meaning of social structure.
d) State the meaning and types of ‘Kindship’
e) Elucidate the meaning of ‘incest’ with suitable examples.
II. Answer any three of the following in 20 sentences each: (10x3=30)
1. Explain the meaning and scope of physical anthropology.
2. Write a note on ‘cultural relativism’
3. Explain ‘kula’ system of exchange.
4. Write a note of Preferential Marriages.
5. Elucidate the meaning of ‘Totem’ and state its importance in simple societies.
III. Answer any three of the following not exceeding 3 pages each: (15x3=45)
1. Define anthropology and explain its branches.
2. Elucidate the concepts of ‘culture contract’ and ‘culture diffusion’ and explain their role in cultural change.
3. Explain the process of ‘universalization’ and ‘parochialization’ as elucidated by Mckim Marriot.
4. Define marriage and explain its types.
5. Elucidate the differences between ‘Religion’ and ‘Magic’.
