1. (a) Describe the tests conducted to know the properties of moulding sand. (b) Write the advantages of Zircon sand over other Sands.
2. (a) Describe Cold Chamber Die Casting Machine with a neat sketch. (b) Discuss the factors to be considered in the choice of Metal Melting Furnaces. [10+6]
3. (a) Brie?y explain the importance of various metal working processes. (b) Describe recovery, recrystallization and grain growth phenomena in metal working process. [8+8]
4. (a) What is deep drawing? Explain its applications. (b) Explain hydrostatic extrusion process with a neat sketch. [8+8] [10+6]
5. (a) Sketch and explain various forging operations used in practice. Mention their applications. (b) Sketch and explain the sequence of operations involved in making connecting rod by upset forging. [8+8]
