PART A-(10*2=20)
1. Define the term conduction velocity.

2. List the names and frequency bands of EEG signals.

3. Calculate cardiac output for a patient with the heart rate of 72 beats/min and stroke volume of 75ml/beat.

4. State Beers law.

5. Distinguish between internal pacemakers and external pacemakers.

6. Mention applications of biotelemetry systems.

7. Calculate energy stored in a 16µF Capacitor of a defibrillator that is charged to a potential of 5000 V dc.

8. Name current waveforms employed in electrotheraphy.

9. What do you mean by micro – shock?

10. List out the characteristics of LASER.

11. (a) Draw equivalent circuit of a biopotential electrode interface. Discuss in detail about various types of biopotential electrodes. (Or)

(b) Describe in detail about unipolar and bipolar limb lead system used for measuring ECG signal. & Write short notes on Phonocardiography.

12. (a) Explain the principle of operation of an ultrasonic blood flow meter &Explain working of a flame photometer with a neat block diagram.(Or)

(b) Define the terms Tidal volume , Residual volume , Vital capacity, and inspiratory capacity.& Discuss basic principle of operation of a spirometer.

13.(a)Explain the working of a DC defibrillator with a neat diagram . (Or)
(b) What is dialysis ? Explain the principle of operation of a dialyser machine with a neat diagram.


14 (a) Discuss in detail about the basic components of a multichannel biotelemetry system. & Explain various modulation technique used in a telemetry system (Or)

(b) Explain the basic principle of operation of an ultrasonic diathermy unit. List out the applications.

15 (a) List out the physiological effects of electric current current on humans & Write short notes on ground fault circuit interrupter

(Or)

(b) Mention advantages of Laser surgery. & write short notes on endoscopes. & explain various electro surgery techniques employed in a diathermy unit.
