Time : 3 Hours Maximum Marks : 60
NOTE:- This paper consist of Three Sections. Section A is compulsory. Do any Four questions from
Section B and any two questions from Section C
Section-A Marks : 20
1(a) Define digital control system.
(b) What forms of different data links are used in adistributed control system ?
(c) Given :- A memory of,

t RC (Read cycle time) = 200 n sec
tA (Access time) = 100 n sec
tOHA (data hold time) = 50 n sec
Find the maximum rate at which (a) data can be stored (b) data can be read .
(d) What is meant by knowledge-based control ?
(e) Briefly explain analog control ?
(f) Define supervisory control ?
(g) Define expert system ?
(h) What is PLC ? Draw a typical PLC architecture ?
(i) List several of the most popviar peri-pherals normally associated with process control digital computers ?
(j) What is meant by Direct - digital control ?

3. Mention the advantages and disadvantages of digital control over analog control ?
4. What are local control units (LCU ) ? Explain.
