1. What is SPC?
2. Describe briefly the concept of circuit switching.
3. What is the principle of time division switching?
4. What are STS and TST?
5. What is termed as Grade of Service?
6. Give some examples of delay systems in telecommunication.
7. Compare FDM and TDM.
8. What is SONET? Give any of its two special features.
9. What is packet switching?
10. What are ATM networks? Give two of its special features.
PART B — (5 ? 16 = 80 marks)
11. Draw the block diagram of the overall structure of the ISO reference model and explain each layer in detail. (16)
12. (a) Name the two types of selectors in stranger switching system. With diagram explain the working of the uni–selector switch. (16)
