1. Trace and describe the impelling forces of integration of materials management function in an organisation.
2. What is the importance of purchasing in Materials Management function? What are the steps in professional purchase procedure?
3. Enumerate the important provisions of the present Indian Import Policy. What are its relevance in material planning?
4. What are the different components of Ordering and Inventory carrying costs? Derive the formula for EOQ clearly stating the assumptions and following the usual notations.
5. Explain the important receipt, inspection preservation and issue documents of the store and their purposes.
6. Weekly demand for HP printers at a sam’s club store is normally distributed with a mean of 250 and standard deviation of 150. The store manager continuously monitors inventory and currently orders 1000 printers each time the inventory drops to 600 printers. HP currently takes two weeks to till an order. How much safety inventory does the store carry? If HP is interested in 95% service level is Sam Club carrying more or less inventory? How much?
7. What are the input requirements for MRP? What are the outputs?
8. What is the relevance of plant layout for Material Handling equipment? Categorise the major types of material handling equipments and their applications.
