Generally, amebiasis can be treated by antimicrobial medication: however, in severe cases such as amebic liver abscess hospitalization and surgery is required. In asymptomatic intestinal infection remedy, treatment using diloxanide furoate iodoquinol, paromomycin or metronidazol is quite common.
