NGO means Non governmental organization. The main objective of NGOs is to provide social justice, development and human rights. It provides services directly to local community.
NGOs have very important role in disaster management. The main function of NGOs during disasters is to provide help and saving operation. Then other things done by NGOs are reconstruction such as roads, buildings and providing medical help.

Hi,

It is a nice question. There are many concerns that provide help to the old age people and there are many orphanage centers that provide help to the physically and mentally challenged people. The government organisation have not taken any initiative to take care of this issue. If the government has been into this project then there will not be any old age homes or the orphanage homes in our country.

Even though the government is not taking care of the old age homes the non government organisations take some initiative to take care of the orphans and old age people. The non government organisations create awareness among the public about the orphanage homes and the old age homes and collect funds to give to them. They also create some global development programs and with the help of that they collect the money and perform service.

There are also worst cases. In some of the Non government organisations if some person does a donation of RS 500 to one particular orphanage home or old age home or to some service organisation then he will be given treat by the non government organisation for nearly RS 1500 which is of total waste. Instead this money can be used for some other betterment purpose.

Hi,
There are a number of non government organizations (NGOs) in India, with a wide ranging scope of activities. The NGO's have been functioning in this country for more than forty years. They have the potential to play a vital role in disaster management having the flexibility to react quickly at a local level. They are often first quickly assembling their volunteer manpower, organized group to reach the disaster place.

There are following various types of disasters n which all NGOs are/can play important roles-
(1) Floods
(2) Drought
(3) Cyclones
(4) Earthquakes

There are people who make NGOs for making money; they are showing all work at paper. There are many NGOs exist in single family with different name such type of NGOs are only made for making money.

hemant

Non government organizations do a great service to the poor and weaker sections of the society. The members are philanthropists who serve the society in many ways.

Whenever there is a disaster in large scale and the government can not provide immediate help, the NGOs rush to the spot and help the needy.

Some NGOs also arrange for blood donation camps when blood is needed in a large amount. They also distribute text books, uniforms and note books to poor school children.

They collect funds from business tycoons personally and use the money to provide food and shelter to the old people.

There is a very famous organization , which identifies the insane woman roaming around on the streets, brings them to their premise, gives them medical help and takes care of them.

Further more, when infants are mercilessly thrown on the dustbin with out humanity, the NGOs take them to orphanages and give a meaning to their lives.

Radha Muralidhar.

Non government organisations are known as NGO.NGOs are the one who serve people in their need without asking anything for them. there are several NGOs worldwide. when a disaster occures NGOs work faster then the Govt.sometimes small local NGO tie up with other bigger NGO to give justice to their goal. they not only work at the time of disaster but also after the disaster such as arranging permanent shelters and vocational training for future and even distribute seeds to the farmers to start farming again. NGOs work extensively for children and women. NGOs work from grassroot level to the metro-city level. NGOs have a good eye on the negative aftermath of the disaster such as child and women trafficing, which they try to stop. NGOs not only work at the time of disaster but they keep on doing work for the beeterment of the society.
