Its good that you wanted to start learning HTML from the internet but i would really recommend you that you go for HTML courses nearby your location.
Because at some point or the other you have step from being a basic HTML programmer to being an advanced one and in this online tutorials are very less useful, so it would be better if there was a person present who can clear your doubts about HTML.
And if you want a good software to learn and make webpages then you should try Adobe Dreamweaver, else if you need a basic software then you can also use Notepad++

Go to www.w3schools.com/html/. In this website, HTML is explained in a beautiful way. You can learn everything in HTML here. Also at the end this website provides certification test for what you have learnt through the website. It has this added advantage which many other websites don't provide. So, in my opinion w3schools website is good.

I would suggest that you learn HTML either from a reputable book or from any coaching institute. There are many sites that have HTML tutorials but most of them are written more for search engines than for real learners. Therefore, it might be possible that you get stuck as to which page you should re3ad next. Moreover, many of the sites do not provide you with complete information on the HTML language.

hey friends,
I well suggest you to go with
http://www.w3schools.com
it is having Easy Learning with "try yourself" and "Run Example"
its "Run Example" tool makes it easy to learn Web Pages.
It runs examples and displays the HTML code and the HTML output simultaneously.
Click on the "Run Example" button to see how it works....

HTML is pretty easy, You can learn it in few weeks. The best tutorial would be notepad, your computer with a browser and a book on html and css. Just follow it from start and don't skip any code. I advise learning CSS along with HTML as both go together. HTML gives layout to your webpages and CSS complements them with looks.
And if you just want to learn it online check out http://htmldog.com/guides/htmlbeginner/
w3schools is nice but its more sort of a reference than a tutorial.

There are lost of sites that teaches you HTML but among all those Sites I would recommend w3schools.com. W3schools.com is one of the most reliable site for learning HTML. Even professionals take the reference of w3schools for their project. Once you get into w3schools you will not only learn HTML but you will also get the chance of learning CSS, java, xml and lots more.
