You have heard wrong my friend. Free anti-virus always lacks some features compared to paid anti-virus. Other ISC members will enlighten you on this topic whether to use free anti-virus or not.

One more thing, if you're not using original windows operating system, you cannot install Microsoft Security Essential, but you won't have that otherwise problem with AVG.

In the case of antivirus softwares it is always best choosing paid one rather than free one. Paid one has the full featured function. And because of that it can resist the virus affect to your computer effectively. The free antivirus softwares have some limited features. And in my knowledge the free antivirus software itself contain some virus. It will affect your computer after the trial period. It is better to choose a good and paid anti virus software for fully protection. You have already says that you have a paid one and you have to compare it with a free one. So I suggest you should check the original one with free avast antivirus software. You can see the dissimilarity. And the lack of features in free antivirus software compared to the original one.

Best way you can use paid antivirus for good result. However, if you have not able to buy full registered antivirus or Internet security for your PC, then download and use one month trial version from its official websites ,i.e. ESET NOD32,Avast.
Don't use any patch and crack for registration purpose ,because these will be harmful your PC and your precious data will be lost.

I would suggest free registered version of Avast will help u a lot for keeping your computer safe. Just take care of keeping it up to date. I have been using free registered version of Avast for last 2 and half years I never had any security problems.

Free anti-virus have less fetchers than paid one. Still there are many free anti-virus available to us. The one that i recommend to you is panda cloud anti-virus , it has many fetchers when compared to many other. You can also use avast anti-virus it can even show good internet sight by a fetcher called over all rating.Another good one is AVG. Panda can be used along with many other anti-virus.

Free antivirus lacks many features than a internet security suite.One of the main difference is lack of firewall.So if you want an antivirus and firewall separately I suggest you to get Avast free antivirus and Zone alarm firewall or Comodo Firewall.
But remember having two separate programms may slow down your system.

The best antivirus software I heard is quick heal antivirus but its latest version is not free but you can download its old version because they can also give your PC more protection and your PC will be protected . You will also get a firewall software in this antivirus.
Some more antivirus I know is Avira antivirus personal which is free to download and give your PC the best protection .
Warning : The thing which you have to remember is not to crack the antivirus because it will harm your PC and if you have an internet connection and you are cracking the antivirus then the server will understand that you had crack the antivirus software and it will ignore your antivirus and then your antivirus will not work because it will update our PC .

Best free antivirus is Avast and best free malware is Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware. Avast gives one year free license. I tried both. Both are good. Just try once.
