Internet is a network of networks which is linked through various electronic and wireless technology. To understand the Internet more clearly, let me tell you about how the whole system gets started first.
History of Internet The research on Internet started in early 1960 with the help of US government collaborated with other private commercials. In the late 1960 Professor Leonard Kleinrock made his first packet switching network called 'Arpanet' Interface Message Processors. This Arpanet leds to the development of protocols for internetworking now it is called as internet.
How Internet Works When you typed in a web address in your computer it will send an electronic request through your internet connection to your ISP (Internet Service Provider). The ISP will then route the request to a DNS (Domain Name Server). The DNS will start finding for a match of the web address you typed and will direct the request to the website's web server IP address. Then the server will respond by sending the requested file in a series of small files called 'Packets' which ranges in between 1200 to 1500 bytes. When the packets reaches your computer, it arranges then according to the rules mentioned in the protocols. The Internet works in such a puzzled way.
Who have the power of whole the internet server? The Internet server is operated and administered by the ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). Its headquarter is in California. The US government plays an important role on the whole.
Are these connections connected through the cables or through satellites ? The Internetworking connections are connected majorly through cables and wireless devices.
How they earned money that time through internet? At first Internet was used only by US governing bodies and some major research and educational organisations, not for earning money. It was commercialized in the late 1990 to carry commercial traffic.
