Unable to concentrate, continuous feeling of unstability?

Date: 24 Jul 2012   Group: Doctors    Category: Others

Friends, I do not know why I am finding myself unable to concentrate and losing interest in everything. For example, Even when I logged in ISC, went through many threads, I thought of responding but I start typing I found myself dont want to think anything. Just after reading whole threads(many) I just logged out. If I felt somewhere it must be done there too I responded in one or maximum two lines.
I have two examination in next two months, I want to concentrate but failing in every attempt to concentrate. I tried to solve a sample paper too but after solving two I just closed that test. I am sleeping more these days and I am not liking to eat food. Even in writing this I am forcing myself to write in detail.
Please tell me, how I should manage this unknown disturbance? How to increase my concentration? Is this may be because of fever I have just recovered from?

To be more correct over lack of concentration, the state of the mind can arise because you are not in a correct rhythm. Some things can be constantly irritating you or may be causing you to be in a constant state of worry.

Such thinks can be because of your approaching examinations for which you have not done your preparation well or they may also be because of some other reasons which are taking your mind constantly in them and then all the things and objects around you seem to be worrisome.

In such a situation, the originator can be yourself or may be some other person or many people around you causing the situation. In the terms of Psychiatry and Psychology, these situations are related with Id, Ego and SuperEgo.

When the person responsible for your situation is yourself then you may be feeling of a dead block in your situation and inability to find solutions.
When the person responsible for your situations is other than you, such that the possibilities of current status in not wholly in your hand, here, you would think of many possibilities and would wish that if such would have had happened or if such would not have had happened.

Are you in any of such situations? Fevers can cause weakness and such weakness can also lead to dead blocks of our mind which need some time to get cleared.

Most of us go through phases in life, when we find it difficult to concentrate and focus on doing anything. It is important to follow the below tips while trying to improve your concentration power and feel relaxed while doing some serious work or while studying:

-Try to get sound sleep for atleast 8 hours everyday.

-Take it easy for a few days and indulge yourself in doing things which you really love to do.

-Involve in recreational activities like watching T.V., movies, listening music, hanging out with friends, going out for dinner with family, reading novels, swimming, cooking, etc.

-Start doing yoga and meditation for 20-30 minutes two times a day. They help in keeping your mind stable and gain a good control over it.

-Whenever you feel down or bored, do something that makes you happy. For example, eating your favourite chocolate or sweet or food, calling your best friend, surfing the internet, playing games, cooking, watching funny videos, etc.

-Make sure you have laugh a lot every day which may require you to spend time with your siblings or family members or friends. You may even watch some good comedy T.V. shows or movies to cheer you up.

-Take a short weekend break and go out with friends or family to a hill station and just relax.

-Read some inspiring stories about great personalities.

-Go for a walk in the park very early in the morning to get good sunlight and also enjoy the freshness of the flowers.

The above tips will help one to cheer up and focus properly on everything they do.

It looks to me that you need a entire shift from your present routine. First in life, you need to have interest in life, but going by your words its look that you are loosing the interest in life. First idea will be to think everything as normal and don't think yourself as a special cursed child. It happens to everybody, in one part of our life we lost interest in studies, some time in current job, some time in wife, some time in parents. But you have to give it some time before you can confirm yourself that you lost the interest in it. Just take a break, the first given by you by nature forcefully, now you take one by yourself and have a visit to some beautiful place. If those two exams are really necessary in life then promise yourself that after this exam you will do what your heart always wanted. Problem with us that we follow others dream and think that its our own dream. Don't copy anybody just be yourself. Ask yourself what you need in life, what is your aim, what is your desire, what interest you and then live your life. Its not that everybody is doing exams so I have to do it. Its your life and you should decide and if you decide yourself then surely there will be no love lost between you and your interest.

Hi Chitra,
Lack of concentration mostly arise when we start loosing controling our mind and some unimportant desire. but avoiding such things is not at all good for the benefit of ouself.I n this situation one must follow the follwing steps:
1. Start with spendiang a morning in a garden doing yoga. Because yoga is very helpfull to control our mind.
2. after you finish a topic and before you start reading another topic do meditation for at least 10mins. It is the most effective way to control the mind.
3. Have some almonds (2-3 almonds)regularly.
After that you can opt for Colour therapy.
With the help of colour therapy this type of issue can be solved.

While studing keep a purple colour pen or a pensil with you. Purple colour will bring attention and concentration in your task.

At the place where you study, keep a brown colour cover on the chair where you study or study on a brown colour chair. It will help you to be determined and tackle with the issue that you have exactly mentioned.
You don't want to continue with raeding you feel like skiping. So, with the help of brown colour this problem can be tackle smoothly.

Have a balanced diet.
