Indira Gandhi National Open University is mainly meant for those students who cannot obtain a degree through formal education and thus facilitate such students to obtain a degree through distance mode of education. And it comes under the University Grants Commission. Hence any degree obtained through IGNOU is very well recognized by the Govt of India for any govt job. So you are eligible to appear for Civil Services exams or competitve exams by State Service Commission
However, if you are keen on improving your qualification from career point of view you can pursue higher studies through the same university as it is worth obtaining a degree from the university or you can even join a professional course of your interest in the same university or any other university of your choice. As higher qualification always helps in career development. So I would suggest you to first choose a career of your interest and accordingly do a course which would be helpful / useful to you in your chosen area
