Sir, though am not a doctor, I am aware of the reason.
The allopathic medicines are the modern ones developed on the back of science in medicine. It is an artificial creation. The contents of all allopathic medicines mostly are chemicals synthesized in a lab. We know that most of the chemicals being used in the modern drugs are harmful to the human body as they are not a product of nature. So, this is a main reason for the side effects of allopathy. All allopathy medicines are artificially created and the chemicals used are designed in such a way that they only cure the problem on the surface. For example, if a person is experiencing pain, the modern medicine tries to hide the pain by screening it behind the medicine's action and this doesn't mean that the pain will not reoccur. Also, when it cures something, it also reacts with some other things in the body which might be dangerous.
The ayurvedic option of medicines is a gift of nature we do not use much which is artificially generated by us. Also, most of them are not localized to a particular problem and hence they are not dangerous to other parts of the body when used for a specific problem. All ayurvedic medicines are biotic components of the environment and hence do not have many side effects and they are efficient in rooting out the problem instead of creating a shield behind which the pain exists.

Hi Satyam, that is not always true. There are herbs which can kill a person. Not all allopathic medicines are artificially synthesized. Atropine from plant belladona, heparin from leeches, immunoglobulins from sensitised horses and rats, anti-cancer drugs like vinblastin, vincrystine, and the list never ends.
@Sai, I dont agree with you that all allopathic medicines treat the symptoms and not disease. Allopathy has symptomatic treatments along with disease curing medicines. Everything is allopathy is proved scientifically and the it is dynamically changing with research.
I agree that most of them are synthetic chemicals that can cause serious adverse effects. It is a basic law. Do you know even ayurvedic medicines have side effects? On a larger perspective everything is a chemical with molecues>atoms>electrons, protons in it.
In general drug interactions are high among allopathic drugs. Rarely herbal and allopathic drugs interact and cause side effects. Ayurvedic drugs are not checked by FDA for adverse effects and hence not documented but there may be few exceptions.

sai, first of all thank you for your response! But i dont agree with you to a point that all the allopathic medicines are synthetic because i have been studying about manufacture of medicines for a long time also undergone an internship in a pharmaceutical industry, as dr. Ratna said, not all the allopathic medicines are synthetic, many many many allopathic medicines are made from products of natural origin, like digitalis which is used in failing heart..and many more..
Except this what you explained i appriciate that.. Thank you

dr. Ratna thank you for your reply and yes i have studied about these herbal drugs in pharmacognosy.. You are right that allopathic medicines can cure a disease, with a few exeptions, since i deal with allopathy, but i have heard that in some cases allopathy is far behind than ayurveda... eg. Psoriasis have no treatment in allopathy but can be cured with ayurvedic medicines, and many more diseases... Is that true?
Coming back to my question in short can we say that ayurvedic medications have side effects too?

Welcome satyam, Good to hear that you are from pharmacy. Yes, you can say that ayurvedic medicines have side effects though relatively less.
I can not sharply comment on the statement that allopathic is too backward than ayurvedic. Its beyond my knowledge I guess. What I can say this, we have treatment modalities like PUVA therapy other than drugs.

All allopathic medicines are not chemicals. Allopathic medicines are also prepared from herbs. But the difference is that they are stronger than ayurvedic medicines. For eg. In ayurveda if we use small amount of 'Tulsi' for cough or related diseases in allopathy the tablet for the same may contain power of large volumes of tulsi. They are extracted and seperated strong drugs. So small quantity of the drug will be powerful and can cause side affects. These side effects will be very soon visible. The same will happen with ayurvedic medicines. But for a single course of medicine the power will be less and it takes a long period for showing the side effects.
My grandma who is using ayurvedic medicine for long years for leg pain. She is having kidney problems as a side effect. We come to know this now only. The doctor told us that long period usage of any drug will cause serious problems. Consider an example if we have a lot of sleeping pills as you know it will cause death. But we can have one or two without any problem. The same thing happens here. Our body will excrete most of the external particles. But the process is very slowly and it could not be done effectively for a large quantity.
By having allopathic drug we are having 1000times that of ayurvedic drug. That is the difference. But for some allopathic drugs doctors will prescribe anti drugs that alleviates the side effects of them. It is not possible in all cases. If you want to cure your disease as soon as possible you must depend allopathy and have to tolerate the side effects. Otherwise go for ayurveda but long term use will be same as allopathy.

Nice question mate. Yes,in allopathy side effects and drug reactions are more than ayurvedic drugs. Alhough both are prepared from herbs, yet allopathic drugs are more toxic because there are chemicals also used in its synthesis. Where as in Ayurveda it is an ancient medicine which uses herbs and shrubs only,as a result side effects are comparatively low. Ayurvedic drugs act a bit slower to allopathic drugs.
