What if Ganesha comes in dream?

Date: 03 Sep 2012   Group: Religion    Category: Hinduism

Hi,

Recently, I had a dream (perhaps near 4 am, I am not sure I was in sleep).
In my dream, I was seeing a scene of some meteors in the sky and space, and falling down. And then this was happening repeatedly and continuously. Then in next scene of the same dream, I found myself sleeping on my bed, in the same position in which I was, and was seeing a dream there also. And just outside my window, I saw something like bliking.. Those were eyes of Lord Ganesha. When I moved my vision downwards, It was the whole of Lord Ganesha. approximately 90-100+ fts tall, and occupying a large area of the Earth nearly 40 fts approx.

I was just watching and watching him.

"I have never seen such dream earlier(as far as I remember) and also my favorite is Lord Shiva from earlier. I never thought about Ganeshas deep worship or anything but just a normal devotion. I had not even remembered or recited his mantras etc during past one week of that."

I am just wondering, why it had happened when I had not even thought of anything about Lord Ganesha in my concious state before sleeping or during last morning or else?

I am now onto search what our old and religious beliefs say about God coming in our dream.

Please help me and tell if this dream shows any sign or anything related to Lord Ganesha & me?

It means that you are growing. It may also mean that you are getting some inner power to solve problems.

Psychologically, your inner feeling wanted to pray Ganesha but for some reason you are not doing. Your interest or wish in praying Ganesha is reflected by way of dream. Actually it is your inner mind which is reminding your wish or interest.

Further you may had wished to do some offers to Ganesha but failed to do the same. This dream may be the reminder of that wish.

Normally, old people say that if ever you have failed to keep any promise that you have made to any of the God, then they might appear in your dreams to remind you about the offer you have made to them. So think about it, if you have missed anything.

Secondly, I think you have Lord Ganesha's blessing up on you and if you are going to face any problems or if you want to tackle any situation, you will definitely go through it. My mother had dreamed Lord Krishna when she was carrying, near to delivery date and In her dreams, Lord Krishna said, don't worry everything will be fine and it was fine and she had a very normal delivery. Even she was also a normal devotee and not a full time devotee and into worshiping Lord Krishna.

Thirdly even though you might not be reciting his mantras for past one week, the thought about Lord Ganesha will be there in your unconscious mind and you might be dreaming about the Lord because of that.

Also people say that normally you dream what you have seen during the other times of a day. May be you have seen a similar idol or picture of Lord Ganesha in the recent days and that might have been in your inner mind and may be it came out as a dream.

In my personal opinion, it is an auspicious sign. Lord Ganesha is believed to be the 'Lord of Success' in Hinduism. The 10 day long festival of Lord Ganesh, known as 'Ganesh Chaturthi' is just around the corner and people are getting ready to welcome him on earth. This year, Ganesh Chaturthi falls on 19th September.

In your dream, he came to let you know that it is that time of the year when he comes to bless everyone and ward away all negativity from earth.

So, grab this auspicious sign of divine blessing and worship him with pure heart during 'Ganesh Chaturthi' and he will remove all obstacles from your way and bless you with devotion, happiness and success. Cheers!

Our dreams are actually reflection of our unconscious and sub-conscious thoughts. When we sleep, our brain is actually wondering around; processing everything which we have seen or experienced the whole day, It could be a roadside view or a scene from movie or even a smell you smelled while crossing a house or a conversation you heard at the bus-stop. Also, our thoughts are not restricted to the happenings of the past one day but it can travel through time. This may sound strange but our brain has so much power that we cannot even imagine. That is why in our mythology, the presence of God is always referred to as "in our Heart" (which is actually the brain which thinks and feels).
You have seen Lord Ganesha, this shows your devotion to Him. Though you may not believe in superficial rituals but you firmly believe in Lord Ganesha and have full faith that he is going to come as a savior in your life to remove all pain and sufferings from your life.
Always remember that "Faith" is the Key; Your inner self is directing you and asking you to have faith in Ganpathi Bapa. Do your deed, and you will never be disappointed.
Arjun asked Lord Krishna,"Ishwar kya hai aur kahan hai?"
Lord replied,"Ishwar tumahara vishwas hai aur tumahare mann mei rehta hai."
So, what you can do when you get up in the morning is light a lamp/diya and pray to Lord Ganesha. Thank him for all those happiness he has given you and ask for his blessings. This will give you immense peace of heart.

Ank Arya,

There are two aspects here.

1. Belief and faith: The traditional belief and faith, as handed over from generations by word of mouth, is that, it is when you fail to perform the vow to the deity by forgetting it He /She comes in your dream. It can be some offering on getting something accomplished, a mental promise to visit a temple etc. If it is Ganesh then it can also forebode, something, a possible hurdle to something new being planned or worked up.
( It is also believed that if you had tried to hurt an elephant then you may see Ganesh in dreams)

In your present case, if you do not remember any such vow, or offer or promise, then just visit any nearby Ganesh temple and pray. You may offer any common possible offerings there.

Even if there was no vow, at least this will remove the doubts and worry from your mind.

2. Ration and logic: This says that dreams are just common happenings during sleep. Usually dreams are reflections of some thoughts agitating our mind,a secret wish, a secret fear or some portion of something we saw before going to bed. If you are strong willed and can reasons, so then ignore the dream.

Ank Arya,

According to traditional hindu belief if we have failed to keep any promise that we have made to Lord Ganesha, then he will appear in your dreams to remind you about the offer you have made to him. Do you missed any promise that you have made to him? According to the belief if we again failed to complete the offering he will hurt us by making obstacles in our path. So complete them as soon as possible. Visit any Ganesha temple and say sorry to him. He is believed to be short tempered and emotional. You will see him in dreams untill you complete your offering.
