Alto, Maruthi 800 will fit into the budget of Rs. 500000.00. You have the cheapest option of Tata Nano Car for Rs.100000.00 plus some additional charges around Rs. 12000.00 only

To purchase your first car seems pretty exciting and it feels wonderful and you also must be feeling the same. Before you go for purchasing a car within your budget you got to make sure of few things, like: 1. Running cost 2. Maintenance and servicing cost 3. Cost of parts and spares
Purchasing a car is not a one time investment but a capital investment with recurring revenue expenses for times to come. You have a lot of options available within your budget and since in India there is a lot of competition in this segment so most of the companies show their best features of car and do not disclose its shortcomings so as to sell the car immediately to consumers. You will have to be very cautious in this regard and you will have to make a comparative chart in excel of all the available cars in this segment. I have given a link in reference url of the cars available. You will have to note the cars and compare their features and their after sales service along with the cost of spares and parts which will help you make an informed decision.
Features to look for in a car is not only looks but also its fuel efficiency, safety features, comfort, boot space, and many others which you will be able to find after you visit the sites of the individual car makers.
Maruti Suzuki being the oldest and largest player in this segment and has a lot of options in your budget. The parts are also cheap as compared to other manufacturers as well as it has a large chain of service centers all over India, even in smaller cities, which other new entrants lack.
New car makers are competing on basis of new features but they have weak after sales service and costly parts as well as costly service.
Also you will have to choose between diesel or petrol version of cars which depends upon how much you will use the car for travelling. Although you may run out of choices because most of the diesel cars are over Rs.5 lakh budget. But as per the usage told by you in your question you will not be a very frequent traveller so opting for petrol car will be a better option.
Check the url given and at once start to make comparative chart of cars i your budget and make the best of decision, because in the end you will have to spend the money and use the car. In short you will have to live with the decision you make whether good or bad.
My personal preference is among the three: 1. Hyundai Eon 2. Maruti Suzuki Estilo 3. Tata Indica
My personal favorite is Maruti Suzuki Swift but in budget of Rs.5 lakh i will get only basic features and if i go for a little better features it will exceed Rs.5 lakh.
Now you make your choice. Regards

hello friend, It is surely very exciting to purchase first car of your own, but this happiness costs something and that is money. You always have to give something to take happiness. Well glancing at your budget, i am known to lots of good sellers with least maintainance. First of all looking at your running for a month which is approx. 200km makes it mandatory that you purchase petrol car. Purchasing a diesel car can cost you 1 lakh more but for petrol you can travel a full year or two with petrol of 1 lakh. The car experts suggest a petrol car if your running is less than 1200km per month. Well then according to your budget : I would like to suggest you to purchase one of the maruti cars only, as their service and attention to the customers is appreciative. I have maruti ritz which is a awesome car. you might want to take a look at 1) new swift petrol basic model : price- 4-5 lakh( (this is the most popular car in the indian economy as per the selling rate, maintainance is minimum costing you about 1000 rupees if you change oil etc.) 2) ritz lxi basic model : price 4-5 lakh ( if you dont have any problem with the rear shape then you must surely go for ritz as it si considered to be more spacious and roomy than swift. maintaninance is minimum costing about 800-900 if oil change etc.) 3)wagonr vxi intermediate model: price 3.5-4.5 lakh ( this car is having a very good mileage and is rated as a good car for family, maintainance cost is absolutely lower than above mentioned vehicles) 4)toyota liva base model:price 4-5 lakh( this is car with more room than swift , this is also one of the companies known for their afterservice and sales)
so these are the cars according to me are best option available in the market for the price range you have mentioned with very less maintainance cost. happy to help.
