Hi Apurva, Actually, medical transcription is nothing but, transcribing the work of US based doctors's patients. In US, the health care industry is mainly based on health Insurance and medical records. India, is one of the few countries, where there are people with very good English. This is infact a very challenging career. One have to be very attentive and observing while transcribing the medical notes, or operative notes or patient notes dictated by the doctors.
Though there is no special skill set is required for this job, it is necessary to get acquainted with the medical terminologies. Keen listening ability, typing skill with very less or nil syntax error are the main requirements. This job after a period of time becomes highly monotonous, but if one have lots of interest in this field, I am sure it should not be a big problem. The transcriptioner should also be able to understand the accent and slang.
More over, there are a few institutes which train people for this particular job and also helps them in getting opportunities to try out their skills.

Hello
Thanks for the guidance. This opportunity is a good opportunity to have a "extra punch" source and I think it would not be much difficult for me since I belong to the Medical profession itself. Can you please provide me further information on certification and regarding application for the jobs of M.T. while I pursue my basic professional practice.
Thanks and Regards
