First of all, AMIE is not a college but a certification. It is provided by Institution of Engineers (India) which is an autonomous body and doesn't comes under any university. The aim of AMIE certification is to provide those people with an opportunity to complete their graduation who aren't able to do it in the regular course owing to their job.
The Govt. of India considers this certification equivalent to B.E./B.Tech so a person doing this certification is eligible for all the govt. jobs means for engineers. This certification is a boon for people the people coming from polytechnic background who are working and can't leave the job. The lack of a proper engineering degree hampers their chances for progress and they can't attend the regular Engineering course from a college. in AMIE they get ample time to study and they only need to appear in exams (there are no regular classes). There are 2 sections in AMIE and one needs to clear both to earn the certification. The fees is very less from the regular courses and that is another benefit.
