It is a good decision that you are planning to join for IGNOU MCA. MCA from IGNOU is one of the best MCA courses in distant education mode. IGNOU's revised syllabus is makes this MCA something different from other. You don't feel that you are doing any distant education, all activities of a regular student is also there in this course. As I'm doing MCA from IGNOU I can say that. There are assignments, records for all papers. But in other distant programs, there are no such things. This distant program is approved by AICTE.
Then come to your question, that is about the opportunities of IGNOU MCA. MCA syllabus of IGNOU is revised and prepared for the present employment needs. In new syllabus, all papers included are really worth. Important thing is Web programming, Web technologies including Java,JSP,Servelet,JavaScript all are there in new syllabus and in different papers. You can also join for higher studies.
This MCA is widely approved and even private companies are recruiting IGNOU MCA holders. Then another important thing is practical knowledge is most needed in IT field if you focusing on technical side not theoretical knowledge. IGNOU covers both practical and theoretical aspects.
Then starting with a job in IT sector, some companies may be looking for Freshers some may need experienced candidates. I think most of the companies now a days requires experienced candidates. So you may have to start as a trainee somewhere. But you have a chance that other regular student don't have. If your Degree was related to computers or if you have any knowledge join somewhere as a trainee while you doing your course. So when you complete your MCA you are a MCA holder with experience. Then you won't have any problem in getting a highly paid salaried job. Salary may be different depending on the company and your position. You can start as a programmer and can step in to project leader, project manager, analyst etc. You'll get a good salary in IT industry.

Hi,
I would like to know your background, if you have done BCA and then going for MCA then this may be a good to choice to do it from IGNOU, but if you have done some non computer course as your graduation then it may not be a good choice. So then you should go for a regular course instead of distant course.
Regular course can be done from any recognized university, from where you can get campus placements also, instead of keep on searching job in market. you can check following site

Hi,
There are a lot of openings for MCA candidates but a regular MCA would be preferred over a part time course since a regular course is given more preference as compared to a part time course.
