Are all degrees issued by the private universities recognised by the UGC?

All degrees are required to be recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Are all degrees issued by the private universities recognised by UGC? Is there any difference between degrees issued by the Government universities and private universities?

Sorry, I feel that the responses given above are not fully correct.

If a private university is registered by the UGC, only then the degrees conferred by these Universities may be recognized.

Furthermore, in case of professional courses, the courses must be recognised by the authorised professional body. As for example, the medical colleges are visited by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and after the inspection of the Council members, the course of a particular medical college may or may not be recognised. Similarly, for technical courses, AICTE is empowered to give recognition.

For correspondence and distance education courses, Distance Education Council (DEC) has the authority to recognize any particular distance education/correspondence course.
