Asupercomputeris a computer with a high-level computational capacity compared to a general-purpose computer. Performance of a supercomputer is measured infloating-pointoperations per second (FLOPS) instead ofmillion instructions per second(MIPS). As of 2015, there are supercomputers which can perform up to quadrillions of FLOPS.[

A supercomputer have more capability than personal computers.
It was used in scientific research, computing high capability programs. It has the power of thousand of personal computers.
Its computing power measured in million of FLOPS that was much higher than MIPS.
Yes, India has some supercomputers named 1.PARAM YUVA, 2.PARAM YUVA 2 that was used in ISRO and some organizations.
Yes, supercomputers are a bit like servers because they stores data in a huge capacity.

There are basically 4 types of computers. They are:
1) Micro Computers : All the desktops, laptops, mobiles come under this category. These are the normal computers. These are generally support only a single user environment.
2) Mini Computers : Small businesses, firms use these. These occupy small space and perform faster than micro computers. Multi User environment is supported.
3) Mainframe Computers : These are used by big institutions and these occupy large space but perform better than micro computers and mini computers. These also support multi-user environment.
4) Super Computers : These occupy very large area sometimes an entire building but perform very fast when compared to the above three types of computers. These are used mainly for research etc,. by institutions like NASA. Currently, the most powerful super computer in the world is located in China. India also has super computers by the name of 'Param'.
