What are the health benefits of eating avocado? Is avocado finds any mention in Ayurveda? Is it cultivated in India? What is its average cost and where it can be bought? Hindi name of Avocado - Makhanphal

Cultivation of avocado in India - Unlike other fruits cultivation of avocado in India is very limited. It has been grown in some of the regions in Maharashtra, Tamilnadu, Sikkim and Kerala.

Where it can be bought - Till today I have not seen avocado being in sold anywhere in India but it can be obtained from online shopping.

Cost of avocado - If I go online to shop avocado it asks to pay Rs. 120 per kg.

Ayurveda connection - Avocado is a fruit rich in nutrients and it holds a significant value in terms of health issues. It protects from breasts cancer, diabetes, heart diseases, blood sugar rise and cholesterol levels disorder etc. Due to its high nutritional value, avocado plays an important role in Ayurveda too. Avocado affects Vata, Pitta and Kapha dosha. It helps in reduction of Vata and pitta dosha while causes increase in Kapha dosha. Therefore people with Kapha dosha recommend not to consume it.

Also known as Butter fruit, Avocados are very nutritious and contain a wide variety of nutrients, including 20 different vitamins and minerals. It has become a popular food among health conscious people.
They have a high content of potassium and fiber and also acts as an anti oxidant.

Health benefits: good for heart (it can reduce blood pressure and cholesterol), it is good for eyes ( helps in better vision and also cataract issues), cancer preventive( cancer in stomach, colon, breasts )

Quick tips: it can be used instead of butter on toasts and
can also be used instead of mayo too.

avocado for body : its is said to help in the growth of healthy and shiny hair and skin.

Avocados will be available in big stores wherein they provide international fruits like strawberries or kiwi, (Lulu hypermarket) but finding such stores can be difficult, so you can buy them online from Bigbasket.com etc.

Recipe of avocado:
India is very famous for one of its most common dish that is parata.It is so easy to make it with a lots of varieties. Similarly we can use avocado in paratas to make a new dish that are tasty as well as healthy.In this recipe i would like to describe about the avocado parata.

The main ingredients of this are:

1. 2-4 Avocado paste
2. 1-2 green chilies.
3. 1/4 to 1/2 tsp chili powder.
4. 1/4 to 1/2 tsp garam masala powder.
5. 2-3 coriander leaves finely chopped.
6. Wheat flour
7. Salt as required.

PROCEDURE:

1.Remove the paste from avocado and place it in a dish.
2.Add the garam masala the chili powder ,green chilies and salt as required.
3.Mixed all the ingredients well to more a thick paste.
4.Mix the wheat flour and form a dough.
5.Take little amount of dough and make a parata out of it.
6.In the middle of the parata add the paste of avocado.
7.Fold the parata from all the sides and close it inside the parata.
8.now again make a parata out of it and cook it.
9.This parata serves well with pickles and yogurt.
