Dual degrees are often given by very specific universities and colleges. So it depends on what is the sandwich program and what it's purpose. Some degrees are really good to make career. Whereas some of the degrees are meant for the research. Another thing is that dual degrees take time to complete. I suggest taking look at institutes like IIT, IISC etc.

There are some institute who provide dual degree course.
But you have a specific goal so that you can choose dual degree, if you are doing B.Tech. And want to do MBA then there is a waste of 1 year by doing dual degree.
BY doing dual degree you will directly go for PhD as you have completed your post-graduation. This also help in getting job in core industries at different grade pay.
So be specific for doing dual degree.

Initially influenced by the foreign universities, dual degree programs were introduced in IIT's primarily to make the students more research savvy. Completing B.Tech. + M.Tech. separately used to take total 4+2 = 6 years , but in dual degree programs , it was possible to complete both the degrees in 5 years duration. Now a number of private universities have introduced dual degree programs like B.Tech. + MBA also. The courses are more challenging to complete, saves time and cost also. As far as job prospects and career progression is concerned, it primarily depends on the capability acquired during the course of study and is not much dependent on the type of course i.e. dual degree type or otherwise.

The decision of selecting any dual degree is completely depending upon your field of specialization and your ultimate aim.
Dual degree programmes are more targeted for research oriented fields.
These programmes are available in many institutes like IITs. They conduct entrance examinations. The course collectively includes the syllabus of both the degrees and students need to complete that in 1 year short duration from normal degrees.
In India, this dual degree is in demand for mostly Integrated Engineering courses where students directly get their masters degree.
If we talk about career prospects, there will not be any problem as these degrees are considered as equivalent to their same separate degrees.
The things which matter here are your skills, capacity and learning abilities.

The above mentioned answers about dual degree are completely wrong. Dual degree does not mean pursuing Btech and Mtech together. It actually means studying two different fields to obtain two different degrees. My brother is an alumnus of BITS Pilani and had choosen dual degree course in which he obtained a degree of B Pharma and another degree of MSc. These two are completely different fields and were completed in a span of 5 years.
Dual degrees were offered only in private colleges in India, but recently government institutions like IITs have started offering dual degrees. Dual degree is nothing but having vast knowledge in two different fields.
The important point that I would like to make is that before opting for a dual degree course see to that it has subjects of your interest or else you may loose your interest in any one of the field or both the fields thus landing in trouble and wasting 5 years of your life.

Acquisition of dual degree is benificial if taken from reputed Institutes. Amity University holds five year integrated course comprising B.A.and LLB degree of five years duration. Similarly there is amalgamation of graduation degree with the The Management - course. IIT conducts five year integrated programme in Physics leading to a degree in M.Sc in Physics.
Such programmes are immensely benificial if persued from a renowned institution. So , before taking up such programmes a proper feed - back is essential to know the rapport of such colleges and universities.
A B.Tech degree from IIT followed by IIM ( Ahmedabad) is a fine combination though this is not a sandwiched course. So, procurement of degrees with established Institutes make more sense than the sandwiched one acquired from less reputed Institutions.
