Date: 18 Jan 2016    Group: Career Guidance    Category: Other Jobs

I am a final year B Com(distance education) student. I have also completed Diploma in Indian and Foreign Accounting and Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. After completing my degree I would like to study MHA (MASTERS IN HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION). Is there any scope for me in future to get a good job in India or out side?

In your question you have put MBA but in the content you have asked about MHA that is Master's in Hospital Administration. Though it is applicable to general students without medical background as it involves administration but generally it is advisable for those who have already studies or experience in Hospital or medical based organisation.

MBA in Hospital Administration or MBA in Healthcare Management is a new area of specialisation within MBA. Generally students from medical background are eligible for admission in this branch of study. Delhi University is one of the very few universities in India which offers this course.

As you are a student from Commerce background, this course may not be suitable for you.

It's not good choice. Please read about MHA in detail , understand its placements situation before opting it. For you finance or operations streams in MBA are good choice . If you have time and looking for job before MBA then give banking exams. If you have dedication towards study then attempt CAT. Irrespective of what course you choose in IIM , you will have good opportunities. All the best.

Since you are from Commerce- background, it would not be benificial for you to opt for this specialisation in MBA. This is rather a new area of specialisation and fits for the Doctors to nurture their administrative skill.
If you want to make good career in Bussiness- administration, you must choose some renowned Institutes preferably IIM, Xavier's Institute of Management etc in order to enhance your employability.
Since you are from Commerce - background, Finance - stream would suit you. So go ahead with the preparation with your full confidence for these Institutes. If required, enrol yourself in an established Institute engaged in coaching MBA aspirants. An excellent percentile beyond 96 percent would make you eligible for IIM admission.
A prudent planning at this stage would enhance your career - prospects.

It is a good choice that you preferred Master of Hospital Administration after completion of your B Com degree. Hospital Administration course has very good job potential in various places of the country. With the advent of Corporate Hospitals and privatisation of the Health sector in many states by means of a tie up under the Vydya Seva/Arogyasri schemes launched by various State Governments like Punjab, Haryana, AP and Odisha, the Hospital Administration plays a vital role and much of value.

Even the MBA course also would offer Hospital Administration as a specialized subject and many Management schools in India offer courses in PG Diploma courses in Hospital Administration. In major hospitals, those who pursue such a Post Graduate course would be offered appointment in Executive level jobs. My cousin's daughter who did her B Com at Faridabad opted for MA (Hospital Administration) worked in HR Department in various Hospitals at Hyderabad and now joined as GM (HR) in a corporate hospital, New Delhi.
