Ayurveda medicines take some time to show effect on body. Also the medicines for the diabetic are quiet unpredictable. And it is not easy to find the right solution for each body type. In such case it is often better to get some multiple opinions while getting treatment. Do make sure that ayurvedic or not, you have to maintain the diet. Also you have to take care of your health. Make sure not to eat things which trigger more of diabetic symptoms. So this takes time along with the ayurveda medicine. So do take other medications if possible.

Ayurveda is an accepted system of medicine in our country and even after the high popularity of Allopathy, there are many thousands who take Ayurvedic medicines with full faith and experienced the expected benefits.
Ayurveda pitches all our health issues in the variation of three basic factors or TRIDOSHA – Vaata, Pitta and Kapha. It is also a basis in Ayurveda that even the same health issue have different types according to their genesis.
In the same way even diabetes is traced as to Vaata originated , Pitta originated or Kapha originated. Once that is diagnosed, the treatment is directed to balance the tridosha, keeping in mind the individual body's leaning to the prominent one of the three.
The Ayurvedic treatment is then decided as per the intensity, age of the disease, the habits and lifestyle of the person etc. In Ayuveda, treatment of diabetes, also targets the side effects and symptoms like extra thirst, extra hunger, nervousness, increased urination etc. They are also aimed in reducing the onset of complications like poor vision, nerve damages etc. While there are general common medicines, additional medicines or instructions are given on case to case basis. The efficacy of Ayurvedic treatment also puts thrust on eating habits and life style. It advises regularity in routine like eating and sleeping and may advise avoidance and regulation of certain foods and taking some particular items more.
There are many branded medicines as well as proprietary medicines available for diabetes. Many claim that they are fully effective and also vouch that proper and complied usage regularly or for certain period can lead to total discontinuance of medicines.
However one should consult an approved, experienced Ayurvedic doctor and not resort to self medication. If already under care of Allopathic doctor, they should discuss the same with that doctor also. Sometimes simultaneous taking of both system medicines are allowed seeing and monitoring the individual case.

It is a good question as asked 'to manage' instead of 'to cure'. Diabetic patients can be managed his/her level of sugar controlled through Ayurvedic treatment. My uncle got a good level of sugar to the tune of 410 and as he was consuming insulin injection and finding no reduction of sugar level, I took him to the SDM Ayurveda Hospitals,Udupi, Karnataka for treatment. There I consulted one of the doctor known to me for his treatment whether is possible to cure/control sugar level of him. She, the doctor, after clarifying all history/background of his health and first asked me to stop his insulin injection. She took the injection pen of insulin from his medical kit and kept in my shirt packet and advised not to give to him. She asked us to get admitted there for only 10 days and on the ninth day the sugar level of him came to normal. She advised us to offer him diet as per the list given by the Hospital authorities. She further advised the items which are to be avoided etc., Even after his return to chennai he was alright for one year but afterwards he got shooted his sugar level again as his control was lost on diet. So, here the ayurveda treatment proved its capacity of controlling diabetic but if the patient is out of control, nothing will save a patient.

Randomized control Trial (RCT) is the gold standard for medical procedures. It is a double blinded test to nullify the possible bias that can occur during a medicine test. So to tell any medicines credibility you can check the results of RCT.

Ayurveda is treated as alternative medicine and as per scientific circle it is treated as Pseudo science. If a compound passes its RCT its then treated as medicine rather than Ayurveda or homeopathy.

As per my knowledge no ayurvedic composition of herbs for diabetics has passed a double blinded RCT. So by taking ayurvedic medicine you may be endangering yourself.
