Bangalore is a good city with good lifestyle. But if we talk about living expenses, it is costlier than Mumbai. The life will be a bit difficult for Mumbai resident initially.
In Mumbai, local traveling is comparatively easily where as it is quite difficult in Bangalore City.

Regarding School admissions, it would be better, if your friend first move there singly and arrange or check the suitability there and then only bring his family there. There are many good schools in Bangalore, but it is always doubtful for mid term admissions. In junior classes, it may be possible but for higher classes, the case is opposite.

If we talk about language, local people use Kannada language, which may cause problem during initial days. South Indian food is very common there but being an IT hub, all kind of food can be found.

Hi seema,

Life is just great in bangalore. I live here for last 7 years and have always loved it. Mumbai is hectic and fast paced metro whereas bangalore is very settled and calm in that way. Traffic is catching up as close as mumbai in certain areas where offices are located like silk board, ITPL and MG Road etc.

About 70% of the bangalore population is non-karnataka so the people who come from outside and settled are more. It is the city which has highest youth population as compared to other metros. Hence it is colorful and happening place to settle. You dont have to worry much about language as people speak Hindi and English in most places. About settling it is easy for mumbaikars to adopt to any place in India but also depends on the individual's willingness and mindset about how he sees settling at a new place.
Also school depends upon which location your friend is set to work. There are many renowned schools across all the areas of the city. Only thing is that it is difficult to get an admission in schools these days and are turning out pretty expensive.

Ideally your friend can move first and settle with job and take 2-3 months and decide whether relocating family is required. This will help the family to move in with ease.
