Is stem cell transplant treatment unsuitable for elders?

Date: 16 Feb 2016    Group: Opinion About    Category: Miscellaneous

I have seen many stem cell banks which advertise storing stem cells for limited period of time in the range of 20 to 30 years. Why don't they store the cells until the death of the person? Is it that the stem cells are not useful after a period of time or is it that the older persons are not suitable for stem cell transplantation?

Wondering whether or not stem cell transplant treatment is unsuitable for elders? Get a quick answer to this query right here.

Stem cell therapy as such is still not fully developed science. While the therapy is breakthrough, doctors say there is a great risk in the treatment itself. Our own cells can turn against us over time. It is also dependent on where the stem cells are taken for storage.
The process is not effective if the person is elderly as the ability to undergo the process itself is painstaking and the effectiveness is questionable. Our body evolves over time and the stem cells become irrelevant after specified time limit. There are many reasons to support why stem cells are not tried on older people as it is scientifically ineffective and risk prone.
