In my opinion 'driving license' can be used as documentary evidence for all the three purposes as it is mentioned as an acceptable document under all the three categories. While filling the online application form 'driving license' should be selected as an option under Proof of Identity, Proof of Address and Proof of date of birth. However it will be better to enclose three copies of 'driving license' writing Proof of Identity, Proof of Address and Proof of date of birth on individual copies

Yes, Driving License is acceptable as identity proof for PAN card application but as per my knowledge, you have submit another document supporting your address. It can be your electricity Bill, telephone Bill, Adhaar card or any other document.
The reason is , they do not simply rely on single document.

Your driving licence can be used as your ID proof and address proof. It is very much acceptable document for PAN application.
Make sure that address in your driving license is same where you reside as the PAN will will be delivered to that address only.
For date of birth proof you can give your matriculation certificate where your date of birth is mentioned.

Driving license and matriculation certificate is more than enough for you to get a new PAN. You have to submit one copy of each proof along with the PAN application in Form 49A.

Make sure that every details like DOB, Address, Name are correct in the Driving License. After successful application you will get your PAN Card Number on SMS on the mobile number you have provided.

Driving - license as good as Voter ID card or Aadhar -card for the purpose of your PAN application. However, you have to ensure that all the details such as your date of birth, your residential - address and your name have been incorporated correctly.
In the application - form for getting PAN card, you may enclose the attested copies of both Matriculation - certificate and Driving - license in support of your identity.
