Many companies spend heavily on search engine marketing. Sometimes, the expenditures exceed the traditional marketing expenses. Well known companies also spend much on search marketing even though their website name is very much popular. Sometimes, if we search for a particular company in Google search engine, the website appears in the advertisements as well as in the top position of the Google front page. I always wonder if the website appears in the top position in Google search, what is the need for that company to go for search marketing? Can search engine marketing draw more customers than traditional marketing?

The power of search engine marketing results in the brand promotion of a business across the online world, which is not bound by any boundaries. Traditional marketing can help only to target particular locations and areas, but search engine optimization and marketing, can get a business visible across several locations with ease.

The ads related to a business appear in the sponsored section above the Google search results (for example). These ads appear for particular keywords for which that business's bid is higher than any other business. Again, it is not certain that the business ad would always appear there for those particular keywords. It all depends on the amount of competition while bidding for ad spaces with other businesses, for those particular set of keywords.

Search engines change their algorithm on regular basis. So SEO is constantly evolving with new ways to gain the first page exposure. So think of it as similar field where people are struggling to get their business on the first page. No website remains on first page on consistent basis. Google has made sure of that because they earn money from advertising.

This field offers a chance for the marketers to get the business on the first page listing. Most of the marketing in this industry is based on getting the on page and off page SEO factors correctly. That's where most of the money is spent by the client.

If you take your business online then search engine marketing and social media marketing can bring more customers to you. And these number of customers can quickly purchase your products or service. And this in turn gives you idea that compared to offline door to door selling this is much more better way to make money as a business person. So you get options to get your business on page one either by using adwords or by purely doing SEO. Either way it costs money to do the process. And that is the place where search engine marketing plays the role.
