How to manage space on VM Player?

Date: 27 Feb 2016   Posted By: Kranthi Kumar (K K)     Group: Science and Technology    Category: Technology

I have installed Ubuntu and CentOS on my VMPlayer. Now, I would like to remove CentOS from VMPayer and release the allocated RAM (1 GB) and HDD space (20 GB). While right clicking on CentOS, I see 2 options, 1) Remove from library and 2) Delete from Disk. What is the difference between these two options? Which option will actually release the memory allocated to the Cent OS player while creating it?

If you click on remove from library then,
It will only be removed from vm player and not from the disk
And if you click on delete from disk then,
It will be removed from vm player as well as from the disk it will be deleted permanantly.
So if you don't want cent OS app then you can delete it from disk by clicking on remove from library you can again add it to library later whenever you want.
If you want to relese memoty allocated to it then its preffered to click on remove from library

What is the difference between these two options?
The first option "Remove from library" will remove the CentOS only from the VMPlayer library and the second option "Delete from disk" will delete the entire contents from your disk.

Which option will actually release the memory allocated to the Cent OS player while creating it?
The first option may help you to save very minimal memory as the CentOS remain in your hard disk. The second option will help you to save more memory by deleting all the related contents from your disk. hence the second option is best in saving memory.
