The reason why the ads status is showing idle is an ad unit that was created more than a week ago and has received no impressions within that particular week. It will be active once the ad unit receive the impressions.

For receiving for receiving the impressions concentrate on how to increase the traffic. The more people visit the more impression receiving possibilities will be increases and the ad unit will remain active.

Lack of views and impressions means the Ads will go idle. This happens for new website and the new ads placed in the slot. Also if you are getting bot traffic or traffic from the region where Google does not display ad. Then that can be one issue for not able to show the ads.

Make sure you have some decent traffic before you can see some clicks and impressions. Many new websites struggle on this. For this reason I suggest you to share the content on social media.

If you are getting some visible traffic but not displaying the ads then you should check out the code. If it is properly placed. And also make sure to contact google forums if in case you need help.

That normally happens when the site is getting no or very few visitors.
Make sure that you have put the ads on homepage of the website or the place where you get decent visitors.

This is a common problem to new web sites. First, you check the ad code. If there is a problem, correct it if you can or contact google customer support. If there is no problem in ad code, the problem may be due to this reason. During the initial days of your web site, it won't get more views and therefore it won't get more ad impressions (less than optimum value). Hence, ad status will be shown as idle. I suggest you to promote your web site through your social networking profiles like face book, twitter etc., so that your web site starts getting some good number of views. Then, check the ad status and you will not find it as idle.

Hope this helps.
