The questions for JEE (Mains) in offline and online modes are different. The tests are framed by experts and it is their role to ensure uniformity of difficulty levels in every set they produce. The students are expected to score irrespective of difficulty in Set A to Set B or C. JEE works that way and we cannot do much but to score high in exam.

The question set in both the lines are different keeping in view of maintaining secrecy of the questions set in both both the lines. Questions on off - line and on line models are set in order to multiply the convenience of the aspirants. It has been the endeavour of IIT to encourage the right aspirants to appear in the examination on off line or the otherwise. Regarding the assessment of toughness level of the sets, experts are there to evaluate the patterns. The level of difficulty in each set remains more or less the same so that aspirants don't suffer on that account.

I have recently appeared for the JEE Mains CBT and analysed both the offline and online papers. As per my observations CBT (Computer based test) was easier than the offline mode of examination. In the offline exam physics was very tough whereas mathematics and chemistry were of moderate and easy level. In the online examination all the three subjects were of easy and moderate level along with few tough questions.
When it comes to the level of difficulty between both the papers they are equally divided. Do not think that students who appeared for offline mode were discriminated.
The best part of online exam is that it saves almost 30 minutes of your exam time and you may attempt the left over questions.
The pattern of online mode and offline mode are completely different so that students appearing for online exam do not get special advantage of detecting question patterns.
There is a negative notion among students and parents that online paper is tough to attempt, this is only because of lack of knowledge of the technology. One does not need special practice for online exam. I had attempted the exam without any online mock test. If you have good sense of basics of a computer then this will not matter you. Also one more reason of more students not appearing for the online exam is that most of them hardly know to move the cursor of the mouse properly.
My personal message is that in 21st century one should try to make the best use of technology we have and not stick to old methods.
