Getting admission into MBA college

Date: 10 Apr 2016    Group: Education    Category: Professional Courses

I have completed my graduation(B.Tech) in 2013 but due to financial issues was unable to do MBA. Should I get into MBA college in 2016-2018 session?
I have a educational gap of 2.5 years. Will getting into a MBA college be fruitful?
Will there be any problem during placements?
I have even cleared GD/PI of colleges like Balaji , ICFAI Mumbai and XIMJ.
Shall I enrol myself or should still search for job?
Awaiting response from experts.

In my opinion the author should set a target to join a job within say next six month. Therefore he should pay full attention for searching a job. After joining the job and working for say six month to settle in the job, he may start exploring the possibility of completing MBA course through distance learning mode. Master of Business Administration (MBA) course offered by the School of Management Studies (SOMS) of IGNOU may be a good option. The eligibility criteria is to clear OPENMAT conducted by IGNOU and graduation in any discipline with 50 % marks or any professional degree like B.Tech. etc. with 50% for general category candidates. There is no age bar also.

You should try to grab a job at first and once you get a job of your satisfaction, you may persue for MBA. In case, you face a lot of pressure in your job you may get this degree through Indira Gandhi National University without jeopardising your time for the job. Since the degree is recognised by the ministry of HRD, acquisition of this qualification would be benificial depending upon the Industry with which you are likely to be attached. If you take up a job in an IT industry, MBA(IT) would suit you. Similarly, in case of attachement of Purchase Department, you may opt for Marketing - stream. Such added qualification would equip you with expertise essential for further promotion.

As you have mentioned about 2.5 years gap after previous academic qualification, it will be really very difficult to get a good and reputed job in technical field.
You may choose following option-
1. If you are still facing financial problem, then get a job and collect some money to finance your MBA afterwards. In this case, you may not get a job as per your choice and interest.

2. If you have arranged financial arrangement during past 2.5 years, it will be better to join MBA, which will rule out the gap and after MBA, you will be able to get a job and will be considered as Fresher.

After MBA, you will have double specialization-technical and marketing. This will increase the value of your professional profile.
But keep in mind, that avoid pursing MBA as distant learning course.
