In addition to the above said, there is another process to reduce the size of jpeg file that is through Microsoft office picture manager. For this go to the picture that you want to reduce the file size and right click and then open with Microsoft office picture manager. In the menu bar, Picture option will be there. In that you can find crop option, click on it. Now you can adjust the size as per your needs.

In the same picture option you will find Resize option. In this two options will be available for you. One is predefined size for the document, web and E-mail. These are available in large and small sizes.

Document - large (1024 X 768 pixels)
Document - small (800 X 600 pixels)
Web - large (640 X 480 pixels)
Web - small (448 X 336 pixels)
E-mail - large (314 X 235 pixels)
E- mail - small (160 X 160 pixels)

And another is the preferred format that you want in how much height and width that is in pixels. Generally, this is what we doing while applying through online and it works perfectly well for me.

And there is another best one is : Adobe photoshop
For this, some technical knowledge is required. Anyhow, the process will be same.

However, you can do this through Paint also.

You can do the above process through offline and it is a time saving process.

You can use the image viewer and image editor tools to compress the jpg file. Such tools are named as:

1. Adobe photoshop
3. picmonkey

These are the most common tools for the image compression regardless of the format.

In case of PDF compression, you have to use specific applications to do just that. For example, there are some of the tools that allow you to edit PDF files so you may have some good luck with it. Adobe PDF editor is one such tool that allows you to do just that.

There are many free softwares and websites for PDF compression in the internet. Websites may or may not be trusted but softwares can be trusted. All you need to do is upload your PDF to the website or put the location of your PDF in the software.

Coming to the compression of JPEG images, the answer depends on what you mean by 'compression. If reduction of dimensions of the image is permitted, internet can be helpful. If reduction of dimensions of the image is not permitted, just be careful as the softwares or websites may remove some colors (changes cannot be recognised by human eye) from the image.

Hope this answer helps.
